There is a short term therapy for Anxiety called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Anxiety. With this therapy you learn to recognize the thoughts that lead up to your anxiety. Then you learn the skills to change the thoughts and divert your mind. I would think it would be worth a try to have your brother help you with Reiki and if that doesn’t work then you should get some professional help

Talking therapy (CBT) can be beneficial and even cure you if there is a mental component. Do you notice stimulus or triggers that set off an attack? Do you notice certain thoughts or emotions leading up to one?
Azapirones are a new category of anti-anxiety drugs which do not sedate. They take a couple of days to work, so you don’t run the same risks as with taking paxil. You can quit after a week if you don’t like them. They gave me paranoid delusions, but it was worth experimenting with. You might be one of the lucky few they work on.
I do reiki and chi gung, and find them to be beneficial practices. I do not recommend them for medical treatments. Rationally speaking, it is hokum. The placebo effect has not been isolated from success stories, and it is all anecdotal. I practice it, but it would be wrong to recommend for another person’s health. I do recommend you learn to meditate. Meditation is proven to be beneficial for such conditions. Ask your brother to teach you meditation, or even the reiki practice. Both meditation and reiki are mental disciplines, and you are trying to control your mind. I recommend Zazen, which like reiki, has Japanese origins so you might have good access to it.
best of best,
