There is a short term therapy for Anxiety called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Anxiety. With this therapy you learn to recognize the thoughts that lead up to your anxiety. Then you learn the skills to change the thoughts and divert your mind. I would think it would be worth a try to have your brother help you with Reiki and if that doesn’t work then you should get some professional help

why would a 76 yr,old man be denied xanax when he has suffered anxiety, panic attacks and depression?

Question by rebfitness: why would a 76 yr,old man be denied xanax when he has suffered anxiety, panic attacks and depression?
My father is a a 76 year old veteran which has suffered anxiety attacks , panic attacks and depression all his life and has yet been even offered to try Xanax,. He has no addictions and has had no help on anything else whatsoever . It is killing me and himself . To know this drug will help although having to see him get denied makes me hugely sick. I just want my father to see plenty or just one more day of pure happiness. Is that too much to ask

Try a different doctor ….this sounds like ageism! Try someone else and if they still refuse then ask why because u need to know why they are refusing u medication. It could be due to any medical conditions that he has but if he hasnt got any then there is no reason why he cant have that medication

Assisted Living in Tampa

There are several Tampa Assisted Living services to offer proper care for those in need, specially elderly people who are no longer able to take care of themselves. With the number of seniors in Tampa steadily growing, these Assisted Living Tampa facilities make sure that the elderly who needs the right amount of care will be able to avail of one. The assisted living facilities make it easier for individuals to decide with regards to being able to provide their aging parents and relatives the best care, and a lot of people in fact, find the assisted living facilities in Tampa truly excellent because they are able to provide fun and entertainment to the elderly staying there.

There are many types of Tampa assisted living facilities, and the people who enjoy these facilities are as diverse as they are numerous. There are individuals in these assisted living facilities who get around and have a good time, and there are also those who need meticulous care because of their failing health or a particular illness. Individuals who still get around and enjoy being able to live independently will find assisted living Tampa facilities truly enjoyable since they get to interact with other individuals with the same age as theirs. On the other hand, those who need a higher level of care would be able to enjoy the care and attention that they truly need.

Assisted living facilities offer a wide variety of services, and the amount of assistance is dependent entirely on the person who is staying there. Some people will need help only to wash clothes or drive to the store, while others will need full time care and medical attention. A lot of assisted living facilities would include laundry services, housekeeping, meals and many others. All of them provide medical services to individuals as well. These services are provided in order to make individuals who are in need of assistance, as well as those who are already dependent to other people to function normally, feel much better with their lives as they stay in the facility.

There are so many wrong portrayals done by movies with regards to the kind of life that patients have in some assisted living facilities. This gave rise to misconceptions such as orderlies stealing money and drugging their patients. The truth is that many assisted living communities provide a nice and safe place to senior citizens where they get to enjoy old age in peace. Those who are able to be independent are virtually left on their own, with only a helping hand given when needed. On the other hand, those who require more attention and care are able to receive it through the help of trained personnel in these assisted living facilities.

For anyone considering options for their aging relatives, it is vital to consider assisted living facilities as a solution. Your loved ones will be able to stay in a comfortable place where their needs are well-taken care of, and that they are provided with an avenue to socialize with their peers. There is no need to worry about your loved ones in assisted living facilities, as there is a trained staff of dedicated professionals who will care for them.

What if any, cures panic disorder?

Question by Karen B: What if any, cures panic disorder?
I have read there is no cure. That it is a medical condition. Okay, so why do we try so many ways to stop it? I have stopped trying to cure it, after many tries, and many options. Including acupuncture( did help, but no cure), chiropractic ( great for tension), meds.( side effects and more panic) I can only take tranquilizers, shrink, ( more and more pills, then er visits and side effects more panic) Back to primary dr. All of this is so expensive that its now a problem for us sufferers. What can help? The answer is, they don’t understand this condition enough. Or what causes it. I have had this over 20 years.

There are those who subscribe to the homeopathic remedies. Depending on the severity, there are certain triggers that will bring on a panic attack. A friend who had mild ones used to rub the palm of his hand with the thumb from the other hand. Another takes medication. A third noticed that if he didn’t get a full night of sleep and exercise frequently, they would come on more frequently.

In all honesty, it’s probably a slight chemical imbalance that’s neurologically based. If you’ve been suffering for 20 years, I’d go to a Psychiatrist and discuss it with him/her. They can perscribe meds to reduce the onset of panic attacks, as a primary care physician might not be able to accurately diagnose this.

Good luck.
