Do you have a family member who struggles with fear and anxiety? It can be difficult to sit by and watch the person you love struggle while you are unable to do anything. Enclosed is a list of things that you can do to help the person overcome his or her own battle with anxiety and fear.
The first thing you need to do is to get the person to seek the services of a professional and/or counselor who can lead them in the right direction and give them the help they need. Even if they disagree, getting help is the first step in getting better.
Be understanding and patient with the person struggling with their fears. Dealing with depression and anxiety can be difficult for the person. Do not add more problems than what is already there.
Learn as much as you can in managing anxiety and depression. There are many books and information that will educate you on how to deal with fear and anxiety. Share this information with the person who is struggling. Education is the key in finding the answers your looking for in managing your fears.
The person struggling with the anxiety must realize that managing anxiety and fear takes practice. So when experiencing an anxiety related situation, begin to learn what works, what doesn’t work, and what you need to improve on in managing your fears and anxieties. As you do this, you will become better in dealing with your anxieties.
Remember that there is hope. Eventually you or the person who is struggling will eventually get better. Give it some time and be persistent in finding the answers that will help the person.
As a Layman, I realize it is not easy to deal with fear and anxiety. When a family member struggles with fear and anxiety, get them to seek help from a professional. The key is to be patient, take it slow, and not to give up. In time, you will be able to find those resources that will help them with their problems.

I have to give a speech this Friday and i'm really nervous about it. The last speech I gave in that class I completely flubbed it, was stuttering and stumbling. Do you have any strategies to decrease my anxiety before/during the speech aside from meds/alcohol. After speaking to others on the web, I found the answer. These tips may help Tips for doing a presentation Know your subject matter really well and practice reading to your dog or just out loud to yourself ahead of time. Look over the heads of the class at a point on the wall in the back of the room. The class will think you are looking at them, and the teacher will think you are looking at your audience. Don't notice any reaction from the class. Their reaction doesn't matter, but it might make you feel more nervous. Concentrate on what you are saying rather than how you are saying it. Don't try to keep from stuttering as that will make you stutter more. If you stutter, just let it happen. Maintain a steady pace, not too fast, and don't get in a hurry to "get it over with. " Speak in a relaxed manner and pause every so often. Start into words easily keeping your lips, tongue, and jaw relaxed. Realize that stuttering occurs more generally when you are trying NOT to stutter, when you are under stress, and when you are tired.

Ok I sort of have three question in one. . . 1. What is the definition of a panic attack 2. I need to know some of the reasons for panic attacks and if 3. Is it common for people to have these attacks starting in childhood and last through out their life. Do you know what I found? Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc. ) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc. Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI – Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level. But there are natural ways to do it without medication. There's this strange herb called "St John's Wort" – it is said to be more effective than Prozac. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John's Wort works like prozac. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc. The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced. . You have that "learned behavior" in your mind. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior – Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction. . There are several other techniques to help cope them. Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to. . Extracted from Source.

How Anxiety Hypnotherapy works and how YOU can use it to improve your life:
Why do people get stressed? By asking questions! Yes, as simple as this may sound, this is one of the key reasons that we get stressed. We ask ourselves what we are doing with our life, whether our current partner is the best for us and ultimately, what is the meaning of life. So is it as easy as stopping asking questions? This will not work either, if you stop asking questions then you risk becoming one of those people that simply cruises through life without considering why they are here, what they are doing and why they exist. While these sorts of people will not often get stressed, they will also miss out on enjoying the conversations that come about as a result of posing these questions to others. One of the great motivational speakers of our time, Anthony Robbins said this several years ago: “Think of your mind, your emotions, and your spirit as the ultimate garden. The way to ensure a bountiful, nourishing harvest is to plant seeds like love, courage, and appreciation instead of seeds like disappointment, anger, and fear. ” This quote illustrates how important it is to try and control the mind to achieve personal happiness.
Stress is the most dangerous drug in a human’s life. Your feelings determine your behavior. However, behavior does not equal the person. Behaviour is only a symptom of your environment and the way you live your life. However if you do not seek help, other symptoms like panic attacks, physical illness and even depression can be created. Anxiety hypnotherapy in combination with NLP and the Alpha technique is a very effective “medicine” to control the stress in such a way that you never have to go through the additional symptoms mentioned above. Stop the negativity in your life! Many people are skeptical of anxiety hypnotherapy but this is usually the case because they are scared about trying something different. But it makes sense to try something different because you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Using anxiety hypnotherapy on a regular basis has the potential to improve your life more than you ever dreamed. You will find it easier to make friends, you will look forward to waking up in the morning and you may never get stressed again. If you would often address an anxiety disorder you should consult a hypnotherapist who is qualified in anxiety hypnosis. Once you begin treatment you will never look back!
Choosing a hypnotherapist to deal with your anxiety disorder:
As soon as you decide that anxiety hypnotherapy is an option for you, you can be sure that you have made a good choice. It does take a bit of courage to begin treatment but after a few sessions with a hypnotherapist, the benefits will be plain to see. The most important decision you will make once you decide to undergo anxiety hypnosis is choosing a hypnotherapist. There are many ways you can choose a hypnotherapist but perhaps the easiest and most reliable is by talking to a friend who has previously seen a hypnotherapist. This way you can be sure that you are dealing with a quality organization that has the skills to transform your life from one of stress and negativity to a life where positive thinking is second nature and you relish every day. The other method of choosing a hypnotherapist is by using an online search such as Google or Yahoo. These search engines will produce a large number of results making it easy to see which practitioners you prefer. Some lists will also include prices and availability. However the most useful feature of an online search is to find reviews of individual hypnotherapists. By reading the opinion of someone else you can gain a valuable insight into what is being offered to you and how other people have rated the services provided.
Why you should not view general anxiety as an anxiety disorder:
Everyone gets anxious about things. Some people worry about money, some people worry about the future and some people worry about where they are going to get their next meal! But are any of these concerns disorders or usually part of daily life. There is a big difference from an anxiety disorder and simply general anxiety. In most cases, an anxiety disorder will arise as a result of prolonged worries which don’t go away. Every day you will wake up without knowing how to cope and you might turn to external substances such as alcohol and drugs in order to cope. So you should not worry about worrying. Worrying is normal and should in some cases be encouraged. It promotes a questioning mind which is crucial to survive in this world. Stop worrying about the little things and start asking yourself the following questions. Why am I here? What should I be doing? How does it all end? Anxiety hypnosis is a valuable tool designed to help you view life in perspective and ensure you remain in control of your emotions on a daily basis. Anxiety hypnotherapy is recommended for anyone who worries without reason and it has the potential to improve your life more than you ever dreamed.

Usually, the first person that most people would call if they were looking for a panic attack treatment would be their family doctor. I certainly did after encountering my first panic episode. However, back in the far distant days of 1985, much less was known about panic than is known today and there were far fewer medications available. Today, there are several for your physician to choose from and finding the right one for the individual usually comes down to a little trial and error.
Azapirones may be one of the choices. It is found in many antidepressants and is used for the calming effect it has upon the nervous system.
Benzodiazepines may be another of your doctor’s choices. These deal more directly with the panic producing anxiety and are more widely used as a panic attack treatment. However, it should be pointed out that this category of drug is highly addictive and should only be taken under very strict medical supervision.
Personally, I never warmed to the idea of taking medication. I’m not in any way implying that taking medication is wrong. I’m just saying that it was, and still is for that matter, my preference not to do so even for something as minor as a headache.
There are all sorts of ways to control panic without taking prescription drugs. Some I’ve tried, other’s I’ve heard good things about from fellow sufferers. There are way too many to list here and I would not want you to be swayed by my negative comments if I had found that something did not work for me. An Internet search with the words “natural panic attack treatment” should bring forth some of the things that are available.
Now controlling panic attacks and totally eradicating them from your life are two entirely different things. As I said above, I tried some natural ways of controlling my panic attacks and, yes, I did witness for myself a vast improvement. However, there were still days when I was landed back in the pit of despair following another “out-of-the-blue” panic episode. To my mind, this just was not good enough. What I wanted was a totally natural treatment that would eliminate the panic attacks from my life completely and permanently. And, albeit after many years of searching, I found it.

Many of you might think that it is an impossible task to learn how to cure panic attacks. Just to let you know, it is not; not anymore at least! Instead of going in for pharmaceutical medications and facing the health side effects, there are alternative, natural methods that are just as effective without the risk of any further health side-effects.
The first step to stop the attacks is by first detecting whether you actually are suffering from panic attacks or not. If you find it hard to breathe, have a vomiting tendency or feel as if you are suffocating in certain instances, then you can be sure to a certain extent that you are experiencing a panic attack. In that case the following will be useful for you:
Control your Breathing to Alter Your Focus
To help stop and control the attacks, try and control your breathing for a few seconds. When you feel as if you are having a panic attack try and alter your breathing to a certain extent. Take deep breathes. Breathe in through your nose and breathe out through your mouth. Think about pleasant things. Drive away all unpleasant thoughts. It is important that you divert your attention away from the attack and onto something else so as not to identify with the attack.
Accept but Do Not Identify With the Attack
When experiencing an attack after you have controlled your breathing to not identify with the experience that you are having. Panic attacks are mainly psychological and when we identify with the experience, the stress, or the anger this can agitate the attack to an unwanted extent and cause it to develop further.
By this I mean when you have a panic attack, try and realize it and accept the situation and what is happening, but do not identify it. Once we identify with an attack we experience it is unwanted effects and this causes further fuel for future attacks. Since Panic Attacks are not caused by any imbalance in the body, it is completely within your scope of control to stop them.
Herbal Remedies to Help Control Attacks

At times panic attacks occur for no apparent reason. Their causes are shrouded in mystery. They can strike unexpectedly, suddenly, spontaneously.
That said, panic attacks tend to occur when your are under stress. They can also crop up when you are about to face a situation that you are afraid of, either consciously or unconsciously. That situation could be real or imagined. For instance, you may have a public speech to give and your mind might be working overtime on the (un)likely reaction of your audience.
Your fears and phobias are often your worst enemy. They can trigger a panic attack when you least suspect it, with no advance warning. The first thing you’ll know is that the panic attack has started. Which is not a pleasant situation to be in.
Sometimes panic attacks are associated with hereditary factors. If someone else in your family has suffered from panic attacks then there is a higher chance that you’ll also suffer from unexpected panic attacks.
At other times, life changing situations can bring on the feeling of panic. At times these situations are associated with distress, such as divorce, loss of your job or even moving house, which is said to be one of our most stressful occurrences.
As well as these situations, there are other things that contribute to panic attacks.
Too much nicotine and/or too much caffeine can both work against you. They are fairly simple to cut down on, although not always as simple to cut out completely. Watch out for withdrawal symptoms, especially with caffeine.
Alcohol is another substance that is worth cutting down if you suffer from panic attacks. If you’re out with friends, try alternating between alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. If, for instance, every other drink is a juice or a sparkling water, no-one except you’ll know that there’s no alcohol in the drink.
