Anxiety Problems

I was just prescribed an anti anxiety medication now for my social anxiety. Could anyone explain how it works exactly? Like how it affects my brain and my thinking and everything. After looking around, I learned — They alter the neurotransmitters in your brain, creating a calming effect. There are a few mechanisms of action depending on the drug. I would google the drug name and go to an official website or read the package insert if you have it. I am not numbed or dramatically transformed by my anti-anxiety medication- I am the real "me" with them and am an overworked, tortured soul without them. They help me live my life, be productive, and get the rest and happiness I need.

Meditation For Anxiety

I can't go to the doctor anymore because we don't have the money for that so I can't get the help I am supposed to be getting. I have been diagnosed as having depression and anxiety. Any way I can treat my depression and anxiety through meditation or some spiritual practice. I was happy to learn… Depression is due to unfulfilled desires. Anxiety is due to lack of self confidence. Both these -ve emotions lead us to unhappy life. to solve a problem, we should go 2 d root cause & remove it. first, take life as it comes, have desires but don't b attached 2 them. second, b self confident always [u can do it, you are inferior 2 none..]. [because d real you is the spirit/soul inside of ur body, that's a part of the omnipotent, omniscient & omnipresent Super-soul/God]. third, think positive & optimistic always. fourth, decide 2 b happy always, never allow unhappiness overcome u. above all think, speak & do good 2 others, the same will come back 2 you [law of karma]. now you may ask me how about that meditation & spiritual practices I asked for? Well, what I told you above are in fact the process of meditation & spiritual practices. But never go for ritual practices in the name of spirituality. People wrongly think that ritual practices are spiritual practices, but no, it's not. Meditation is nothing but channelizing your thoughts. Spiritual practices are nothing but developing ur spiritual qualities. by following those above processes you can surely make urself happy all the time because you are what you think. If you think you should b happy then you will. Happiness is like sunshine, when it dawns all darkness i. E. Ur unhappiness [worries, depressions, anxieties, tensions] will disappear automatically. Yea, I do teach yoga & meditation and so, if you want 2 know more, you can contact me at: goodmannaorem[at]yahoo[dot]com you also can visit my google-group at:

Mindfulness meditation can be used in anxiety management and to stop panic attacks and exam anxiety. Author of the meditation CD “Happy not hassled”, Rachel Green, explains how to do this.

Panicaway

You probably have heard of Panic Away, a program by Joe Barry that teaches you how to eliminate your anxiety depression easily and systematically. As someone who was suffering from anxiety depression, I would often share my experience with the Panic Away program and how it has helped me.

The statistics shown that more than 10 million people are suffering from panic attacks world wide. Almost half of them either never try to seek necessary help to overcome their condition or completely ignore their symptoms of depression. It is a very sad fact to know as they can live a normal and healthy life if they are willing to look for advice and help from doctors, physicians or panic attacks treatment program to improve their condition.

Panic Away is one of those programs that teach you the method to breakthrough the cycle of panic-fear-anxiety-depression-panic without taking any medicine. Joe Barry, the author of the program, was once suffered from serious panic attacks similar to everyone else. He managed to cure his anxiety depression and panic attacks condition after he discovered the method to stop his destructive fear and depression. Joe simplified the method and put it in a step by step simple formula that any one can easily follow and to get out of the infinite loop of panic attack, fear, anxiety and depression.

One of the powerful techniques taught in the program is the One Move Technique. The technique itself might not seem likely to work at first, but very soon you will realize the true potential of this technique after practicing it for a few days. This is exactly the same method that helped me to overcome my panic attacks in just 3 days. During times when the technique is simple to follow and practice, it did take time and effort to make it to work. The effort and time you put in will determine the speed of your recovery.

Panic Away is indeed a very good program packed with useful information. You will learn more about the causes of your anxiety depression and panic attacks when you go through the program. At the same time, you will also master the step by step practical guide system to overcome them. With over thousands of people used the program and achieve great results since it was published, it has received a lot of great reviews. If you are still struggling with panic attacks and depression, it is of my sincere recommendation that you give panic away a try as you cannot go wrong with this program. Consider the cost of it is nothing compare to the doctor’s consultation fee, it is properly the best investment that you have made for yourself to overcome your panic attacks and anxiety.

Anxiety Insomnia

I been awake for 3 days. When I finally feel sleepy I end up with anxiety and just lay there for hours. I refuse to take anymore anti anxiety, insomnia meds. I was happy to learn…1. Cold Showers: Start off with a comfortable water temperature. Gradually decrease the water temperature. After a few minutes, gradually increase the water temperature back to a comfortable temperature. Take one to two showers like this a day for several weeks to several months. 2. Internal Niacinamide (vitamin B3): Take 100 to 750 mg of vitamin B3 mixed in water. It can also be taken in divided doses of 250 mg of vitamin B3 four times throughout the day. Users have safely been able to take up to two to three grams of B3 a day (high doses may cause nausea). Vitamin B3 can cause a reduction in anxiety within 30 minutes. 3. Lavender Oil (mild effect) or Narcissus Oil (stronger effect) Aromatherapy (reduces depression and anxiety): Apply either or both oils to a cotton ball or tissue and smell and/or freshen the room (in excess can cause sleepiness). Also avoid caffeine in coffee, soft drinks and chocolate. Try to burn up the excess adrenaline exercising or playing a sport. Also try to take a warm bath before sleep. Perhaps some soft music or some people like to here the white noise sound. Some stores sell white noise sound generators. Some people also are able to sleep when they wear earplugs.

Self Help For Panic Attacks

I have severe anxiety and panic attacks and the doctor is thing of taking me off my meds and trying to teach me to self speak to myself. Tell myself that I'm really ok. I'm not having any luck seems so it make them worse. I was happy to learn… I had overwhelming anxiety. It turned out to be my use of Splenda. Yup Splenda. I often say sucralose, not Splenda, because that’s what Splenda is. And it is in a lot of stuff. The package doesn't have to say Splenda to have sucralose in it. You have to read labels. So, you might still be using it and don't even know it. Sucralose is poison. It ruined five years of my life. I had a laundry list of medical problems while taking it, including overwhelming anxiety, depression, mood swings, insomnia and more. The slogan, "Made from sugar. . " is very misleading. Splenda might be made from sugar, but it is far from sugar. The resulting chemical is an organochloride (chlorocarbon). Organochlorides are typically poisons. carbon monoxide – made from oxygen so its like a breath of fresh air

Anxiety Attack Relief

I suffer bad anxiety and always have panic attacks. . Well at least I thought they were panic attacks. Someone mentioned anxiety attack to me today so I thought it was the same thing, but someone told me otherwise. After looking around, I learned — Anxiety attacks and Panic attacks are the same thing. There's no difference. However, scientifically speaking, it is impossible for your body to maintain a state of panic for more than 30 minutes. That is because the parasympathetic nervous system will kick in and stop the flow of adrenaline through your body. Your sympathetic nervous system is what creates that "fight or flight" response in your body. Regardless of how horrible and vulnerable it makes you feel, and believe me, i've had panic attacks before, ones which are just terrible, they will end. Keep that foremost in your mind, and tell yourself, "I will live through this". You will pull through. I’m still dealing with my own, and its a long, uphill journey, but every day is a victory. Keep your chin up.

Anti Anxiety Pills

The generic name for Valium is diazepam, but is commonly sold as Valium or Diastat. This drug class is an anti-anxiety medication, but also relieves pain after surgery or traumatic events. Essentially it is supposed to calm the body entirely while recovering from something particularly stressful. Individuals that take Valium report feeling high and detached from the world. It inhibits brain activity through a chemical reaction, which is what is needed during stressful times in someones life.

This medicine is commonly prescribed for anxiety disorders ranging from OCD to social anxiety. Generalized anxiety disorder patients may get a small dose of Valium to control the symptoms. It can also treat irritation, body tremors, delirium, seizures, and a number of other muscle problems too. Since it relaxes your body and makes your brain work less, it is effective at alleviating pain that individuals may feel superficially.

Valium should never be taken for longer than absolutely necessary. Long term use of this drug can lead to addiction as well as other problems associated with addiction and withdrawal. Patients commonly feel insomnia, nausea, headaches and migraines, vomiting, sweating, more anxiety on top of their existing conditions, and even seizures. These are similar to the side effects caused by Valium sensitivities as well. If you experience these types of problems then it is best to see your doctor or go to the hospital immediately.

Valium is only available through prescription since it can be particularly dangerous if abused. You can get the pills in 2, 5, and 10mg tablets, through rectal gel, or injection at a hospital or doctor office. Overdosing on Valium can lead to death or severe impairments of the body.

Valium can be a life saver for individuals that suffer heavily from anxiety attacks and panic related problems. Patients may take this medicine on a schedule or only when they have the extreme anxiety feelings creeping up as an attack. Valium medications used in excess will increase the anxiety problems of individuals, so taking smaller doses less often will mainly be better for the patient.

Before a surgery Valium may be given to completely relax the body and help the patient fall asleep. When given like this it reduces the pain that the brain can transmit to the nerves, thus allowing the surgery to not affect the individual. Doctors are more likely to give Valium to a patient pre-surgery if they are exceptionally panicked about the impending procedure. It will likely be given through injection, but if the patient is able a pill will be administered. Injections mainly activate faster than a pill.

Valium is an excellent anti-anxiety pill that relieves pain and relaxes the body when used properly. Using it incorrectly can lead to death so beware of this when taking it for anxiety management.

Panic Attack Symptom

Several years ago, for a thankfully brief period of my life, I experienced panic attacks. Before I had this personal experience with sudden, inexplicable bouts of panic, I had no idea how devastating this condition can be. I am thankful to a kind nurse who gave me valuable tips for managing the attacks when they occurred. I am even more thankful that they stopped occurring after a few months.

Recognizing a Panic Attack: The Symptoms

The first few times I experienced a panic attack, I believed I was having a heart attack. I had chest pains, could barely catch my breath and was overcome with inexplicable fear. I had an overwhelming urge to run as fast as possible and to thrash my arms around, much as you might want to do if you came face to face with a wild lion or some other danger in the environment. There was lion, nor was there any other apparently reason for the incident.

Not everyone will have the same symptoms as I did. There are many possible symptoms – and not everyone will experience all of them. It is also true that many of the presenting symptoms can also be symptoms of other conditions. However, it would be unusual to find so many symptoms occurring simultaneously with other conditions – but many symptoms at once are typical of a panic attack.

Furthermore, the symptoms associated with a panic attack go away quickly once the event is over. This is not necessarily true with other conditions.

However, the one common trait with all occurrences is the overwhelming sensation of fear and the urge to react to a non-existent threat. In most cases, there is no apparent cause or reason for the fear.

Heart Attack or Panic Attack

I later learned that my conviction that I was having a heart attack is a fairly common reaction. Persons having a panic attack are likely to experience heart palpitations, skipped heart beats, fluttering and chest pain.

Skipping a heart beat or experiencing musculo-skeletal pain in the chest area is a fairly ordinary occurrence in the population. However, when you are experiencing a panic attack and you feel these sensations, you are likely to focus on the sensations and question your heart health. This worry quickly becomes fear. As is true with all experiences of fear and perceived danger, our bodies respond with the flight or fight response. This response means the heart rate increases yet more and the body readies itself for a major physical undertaking.

These symptoms lead you to the conclusion that you were right in the first place, and that you are indeed having a heart attack. Naturally, this worsens the situation. Fear causes more fear and more fear becomes even more fear.

Dizziness, Light- Headedness or Faintness

During a panic attack, you may also become dizzy and feel light-headed or faint. The vision can blur and you may have sensations of vertigo. I can only liken this to the sensation I once had when a mild earthquake moved the floor under my feet. It is a feeling that the world is suddenly mobile and your physical self is out of control.

Worrying about this causes it to become worse.

Sweating or Perspiring

I recall feeling cold and clammy during and shortly after my attacks. This should come as no real surprise. We have long understood that anxiety is often accompanied by perspiration. This is why moisture detectors are incorporated into machines that administer lie detector tests.

And, as is the case with the other symptoms, the more you worry about the clamminess or moisture, the more sweat you will generate. There is a condition known as hyperhidrosis in which people suffering from social anxiety perspire pints of fluids within minutes.

Fear of Dying or Losing Control

The fear of dying or fear of loss of control occurs frequently with persons having a panic attack. It is not easy to explain. If you have not had the experience, you may have difficulty understanding this. However, what happens is you become overwhelmed with a sensation of impending doom and you believe you are helpless to do anything about it. This sensation, when you are in the throes of it, seems to be physical, emotional and cognitive all at the same time.

Panic Attacks Don’t Kill

Although you may feel like you are dying at the time, the reality is that panic attacks are not fatal. People do not die from this condition – although I believe there is a caveat here. During one of my attacks, I rushed blindly into a street in front of oncoming traffic. Luckily, I was not hit. However, injuries, even fatal injuries could occur if one acts on the panic while it is happening.

Coping With Panic Attacks

These episodes typically last ten minutes or less – but it may feel like hours to the person who experiences them.

As I mentioned earlier, my own panic attacks ceased occurring after a few months. However, untreated panic attacks can worsen with time and blossom into panic disorders. Panic disorders are truly debilitating conditions in which the sufferer lives in fear of the next attack.

The most helpful technique I learned was how to calm myself down while undergoing an attack.

Calming myself during attack meant getting out of my emotions and into my head. To explain: while in a panic attack, you feel. Your body and mind are overwhelmed with feelings of fear and panic. The thinking part of your brain has shut down and you are 100% in feeling mode. Your goal is get out of feeling mode and back into thinking mode.

To do this, I would begin taking several deep breaths, forcing slow and regular breathing. During times when doing deep breathing, I would say to myself, “Isn’t this interesting. I am having a panic attack. It is just another panic attack. It is nothing to worry about. It will pass in a few minutes. ” This simple technique would help me to step back, figuratively speaking, and move back into thinking instead of pure feeling.

The first couple of times I used this technique, I was fortunate to have a nurse on hand to coach me through it. After that,I knew how to do it myself. In time, I learned to recognize the beginning of an episode very early and could begin to calm myself down immediately.

Preventing Future Panic Attacks

Some research suggests that there may be a genetic factor at play with panic attacks. However, there is also evidence suggesting that lifestyle and environmental issues can play a big role as well.

If you are prone to panic attacks, you can help keep your stress levels down by regular cardiovascular exercise and by avoiding caffeine, which can trigger panic.

There may also be certain situations that trigger the attacks, although this was not true for me. Panic attacks may also present as phobias.

If you experience panic that is linked to an environmental factor, it seems sensible to avoid that particular situation. However, avoidance may not be the best solution. Your efforts to avoid, combined with your fear of having a panic attack are likely to increase the chances of one happening.

A wiser move is to seek help. Medications and/or cognitive behavioral therapy have proven helpful to many.

In recent years, I have become aware of a powerful new tool known as energy psychology. One variation of energy psychology, called Emotional Freedom Techniques or simply tapping, is amazingly effective at treating anxiety and panic. I use it for many things and teach it to others as well. Should I ever experience panic attacks again, this would be the first thing I would turn to. Best Treatment For Panic Attacks

Panic attacks are the most incapacitating experience a man can ever have! A person suffering from panic attack may suddenly develop an accelerated heartbeat along with shortness of breath, sweating, shaking, chest pain, nausea, hot or cold flashes, dizziness in the head, tingling in the hand. Add to the symptoms a need to run away, a fear of dying or a fear of losing sanity! However, somebody suffering from panic-attack will not have all, but at least four of the symptoms. Yet, the picture is not pretty, is it?

That most people mistake a panic attack for a heart attack is not surprising at all, because the symptoms of panic attack more often than not mimic those of a heart attack. More over panic attack comes out of blue similar to a heart attack and needs no stressor at all. It builds up within ten minutes and then subsides slowly within another twenty or thirty minutes leaving the patient absolutely normal, but shaky.

If you have two consecutive such attacks within a short span and are in constant fear of another attack in near future, you may be having a panic attack. A full-blown case of panic-attack will have at least four of the above symptoms and a fear of another attack always larking inside. For a correct diagnosis, visit a general physician first. Undergo thorough medical check up to make sure that you do not really have any physical ailment that causes the above symptoms.

Once that is done; go to view a psychoanalyst to have any other psychological problem ruled out. Visit a psychiatrist next. Remember, a psychoanalyst is not a doctor, but a psychiatrist is and can prescribe medicines. Others can only apply therapy, but cannot write any prescription. It is naturally better to start the panic treatment under an authorized medical practitioner whoever can give therapy and prescribe medicines at the same time. That done, it is time for you to call on a psychoanalyst, whoever will rule out every other mental illness. The panic treatment can start only after all the physical and psychological illnesses are ruled out. Start your treatment under a psychiatric whoever is either a MD or a DO. Remember, only a psychiatric is allowed by law to prescribe medicines.

Panic attacks are not fatal in the sense that they do not kill people physically. However, they can bring about a great deal of psychological damage if it is not treated early enough. Untreated panic disorder can give rise to social phobia as well as agoraphobia, which is the fear of having panic-attacks in certain places. Add to it alcohol and drug dependency and you can view how panic attack may be psychologically fatal. The patients lose self-esteem and become suicide prone.

Losing faith in self is the worst thing that can happen to a panic-attack patient because such a patient must be determined to be free from the attacks. Besides, he must try to understand:1. What panic attack is, why the attack takes place and how it should be treated. 2. Panic-attack like heart attack is just a medical condition. It is neither a weakness nor a character flaw. 3. There is nothing to be humiliated about and that he should immediately view a doctor and start treatment. 4. Whether the panic attack is actually hampering his daily life. If it is, panic attack medications will be required in the initial stages at least. If it is not, he can cure his panic disorder through psychotherapy and self-help tricks. 5. Caffeine, alcohol and illicit drugs worsen the situation. 6. He must regularly practice aerobic exercises and stress management techniques like deep breathing and yoga to keep the bouts and frequency of the panic attacks under control.

Doctors often use psychotherapy and medications to control panic-attacks. The two most popular psychotherapies that are used to combat panic attack are cognitive-behavioral-therapy or CBT and panic-focused psychodynamic psychotherapy. The cognitive part of the CBT teaches you to identify the thoughts that give rise to panic-attacks in time, so that you can take corrective steps and the behavioral part teaches you the steps that you should take control it. It also eradicates panic-attacks by gradually exposing you to the situation that first triggered that panic attack. Panic-focused psychodynamic psychotherapy helps to identify the malfunctioning defense mechanism, which gave the false warning and caused the panic attack in the first place. If you can do that, you can get rid of panic-attacks for good.

Panic-attack medications include specific selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or SSRIs and benzodiazepines. Before the SSRIs became available, tricyclic antidepressants were used to treat panic attack. Though both the groups are equally effective, the SSRIs are found to be safer and therefore more widely used. These medicines work slowly and have to be taken for a longer time. Benzodiazepines are short-term medications that are more used on as-necessary basis. Long-term use of benzodiazepines may cause drug dependency. However, let your psychiatric decide.

Natural Anxiety Treatment

I'm tapering down from 4 mg of Ativan and feel pretty bad sometimes. Does anyone know of a natural anti-anxiety remedy that’s okay to take with the Ativan to take the edge off of withdrawal? Thanks. After speaking to others on the web, I found the answer. There are two sides to this answer. First of all, several people find help from anxiety from doing some moderate exercise (walking, jogging, etc) or calming exercises like meditation. There are some herbs and natural supplements that can help as well (I can give you a few names if you'd like), but I wouldn't recommend taking any of those without checking with a pharmacist or doctor to make sure it's safe with the drugs getting out of your system. The more important thing I wanted to say is that there are some things that can help cleanse out the toxins and may help to minimize some of the effects of withdrawal. . Drinking water will help to detox, and taking some supplements that work as cleansers may help as well. Specifically, Apple Cider Vinegar, Green Tea (decaffeinated), Chlorophyll (fantastic cleanser), and even good amounts of fiber and water helps some people (although it's not very comfortable for the lower level of detoxification you get). Good luck and I hope I helped.
